May Week 2023: That's So Delta

The Pi Theta Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is excited to introduce our 2023 May Week series: “that’s so Delta.” May Week is a national program of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. that was created at Delta’s second National Convention in 1920 at Wilberforce University. May Week is a week in May that is set aside each year for programs, highlighting academic and professional achievements and the events which emphasize the importance of higher education in the community, especially for Black women. Activities are created through the Sorority’s Five-Point Programmatic Thrust, which was established in 1955.

Well-Read Black Girl

Well-Read Black Girl was meaningful event that allowed women in the community on campus to come together to discuss their thoughts, experiences, and feelings surrounding the concept of tokenism in life, on campus, and in the book.

Community Hike

Held at Pine Park, this community hike aimed at fostering friendships and promoting physical health, drew a diverse group of participants eager to engage with nature and each other.

As the group ventured into Pine Park, the atmosphere was lively with conversations among new and familiar faces. The hike was not just a physical activity but also an opportunity for members and guests to disconnect from their usual routines and connect with the environment and each other.

Healing Hours

This event, focused on mental health and introspective thinking, provided a nurturing space for attendees to engage in activities designed to enhance well-being and personal reflection.

The evening featured guided discussions, mindfulness exercises, and group activities that encouraged participants to explore their inner thoughts and feelings while having jewelry making and plate decorating. The atmosphere was supportive and uplifting, creating a safe space for everyone to share and learn from each other.

Dancing with the Deltas

Dancing with the Deltas provided a perfect opportunity for attendees to let loose and express themselves through dance, fostering a sense of community and joy among all participants. It was an evening where great vibes and energetic rhythms created unforgettable memories for all who attended.

Family Feud

Mimicking the popular game show format, teams were formed among the attendees, pitting groups against each other in a battle of wits and quick responses. The questions ranged from general knowledge to humorous inquiries about college life, creating an atmosphere filled with laughter and enthusiastic participation.

Pi(e) A Pi Theta

Community members were able to pi(e) Pi Theta members with whipped cream for a fundraiser to end off May Week. The proceeds from this event were donated to Dismas of Vermont, a local organization dedicated to supporting individuals transitioning from incarceration back into the community.
