Key Initiatives
Delta Days at New Hampshire Capitol (2024)
Facing significant challenges in voter education, suppression, and rights, New Hampshire Pi Theta convened a panel of experts including Representatives Mary Hakken-Phillips and James Murphy, Olivia Zink from Open Democracy, and McKenzie St. Germain from America Votes. Designed to deepen the understanding of the obstacles and opportunities within the realm of voting rights and advocacy, the program engaged attendees through interactive discussions and Q&A sessions. These discussions addressed the complexities of legislative protections, the impact of voter suppression, and grassroots mobilization strategies aimed at enhancing voter participation. The initiative not only informed participants about critical voting issues but also empowered them with the knowledge and tools necessary to advocate for fair and accessible voting in their communities.
Delta Days at New Hampshire Capitol (2023)
New Hampshire is confronted with a pressing water quality concern stemming from Per- and Polyfluorinated Substances (PFAS). PFAS are synthetic chemicals commonly found in industrial and consumer products like firefighting foam, non-stick cookware, and water-repellent fabrics. These persistent chemicals have the potential to pose significant health risks when ingested through contaminated water sources. Through our program, we aim to not only raise awareness about these critical issues but also offer actionable solutions to benefit our community.
Delta Days at New Hampshire Capitol (2022)
New Hampshire has a serious problem with gerrymandering, a process of manipulating the boundaries that determine representative constituencies in order to favor one party or class. In this state, the gerrymandering practices are manipulated in order to decrease the electoral power that communities of color have in New Hampshire. With this program, we hope to educate our audience on this issue and help direct them to take the appropriate action to counteract these harmful practices.
